After heavy overnight rain, we were all thankful that our junior girls were met with glorious sunshine on the first tee at Meon Valley for this year’s Autumn Meeting. Fourteen girls from across the county gathered to take part in the final competition of what has been an excellent 2019 season.
The blustery wind and dampness under foot made for some tough playing conditions but as always the girls stepped up to the challenge. Congratulations to Lily Walker (North Hants) who had the best nett and scratch scores of the day of 40 and 32 points respectively. 2nd nett was won by Abby Dymott (Meon Valley) with an excellent score of 39 points and in 3rd place with a score of 37 points was Lily Stroud from Romsey, who also took home the President’s Cup for best score from a newcomer in Autumn Meeting.
Trophies and vouchers were presented to the winners by County Captain Debbie Tapply and Junior Girls’ Captain Lottie Dack, whom Lily thanked for her tremendous leadership qualities throughout the season.
Our thanks go to Meon Valley for use of the course, hospitality and meal for the girls after their round.
Also thanks to the small group of parents, who walked round with each group of girls, assisting with ball spotting and generally guiding them round the course and Kate Dymott who kindly started all the girls on the 1st tee.
Prizes for the Order of Merit, most improved player and the Kerry Smith award will be presented after the girls’ final training session on 26th October.
